Grace Tipton, a senior at North Phoenix Prep in Arizona, placed third in the girls varsity unattached race at the second Phoenix Classic at Crossroads Park in Gilbert. Tipton, the Division 4 runner-up at the Arizona state final last season after finishing fourth in the Division 2 championship race competing for Cactus Shadows in 2018, is still taking classes for North Phoenix Prep, but not currently representing the Gladiators. She covered the 5-kilometer layout in 18:52.61 in her first race of the fall following only three weeks of training after recovering from an injury.
