Max Davis, a senior at Flagstaff High in Arizona, took second in the boys varsity Division 1 and 2 race at the second Phoenix Classic at Crossroads Park in Gilbert. Davis covered the 5-kilometer course in 15:47.78 to help Flagstaff place third overall in the team competition with 96 points. Davis ran the third-fastest time overall, regardless of race, and helped Flagstaff trail only Arizona Division 1 programs Brophy Prep (57 points) and Highland (63 points).
